Material Selection Guide

When to consider Inconel 625

This guide helps buyers connect service conditions with the typical advantage of Alloy 625. Final selection should consider medium concentration, temperature, pressure, fabrication, availability and budget.

Service Requirement Why Alloy 625 Helps Common Product Form Buyer Note
Chloride pitting / crevice corrosion High Ni-Cr-Mo content supports localized corrosion resistance. Plate, sheet, pipe, tube, fittings Confirm temperature, chloride level and cleaning practice.
Seawater exposure Good resistance to seawater corrosion and corrosion fatigue. Pipe, tube, fastener bar, forgings Check galvanic coupling and stagnant seawater conditions.
Hot gas and oxidation Chromium supports oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Sheet, plate, fabricated assemblies Confirm cyclic temperature and sulfur or carburizing media.
Welded fabrication Good weldability with matching filler metals and no age-hardening requirement. Plate, sheet, tube, pipe Control heat input, cleanliness and post-weld inspection.
Strength plus corrosion Mo-Nb strengthening gives useful strength while retaining corrosion resistance. Bar, forging, plate, tube Specify mechanical minimums and heat treatment condition.
