Inconel 690

Inconel 690 is a high-chromium nickel alloy developed for excellent resistance to oxidation, hot corrosive media and stress corrosion cracking. Its approximately 30% chromium content provides strong resistance to oxidizing acids, sulfur-containing atmospheres and high-temperature water, while the high nickel content improves metallurgical stability and resistance to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. Alloy 690 is widely specified for nuclear steam-generator tubing, reactor components, chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, furnace hardware and high-temperature fabricated assemblies.

Inconel 690 is mainly used for nuclear steam-generator tubing, reactor components, heat exchangers, chemical processing equipment, furnace hardware and other parts exposed to oxidizing media or high-temperature water.

Yes. UNS N06690 is the standardized UNS designation for Inconel 690. The alloy may also be identified as Alloy 690, Nickel Alloy 690, W.Nr. 2.4642 or NiCr29Fe.

Its high nickel and chromium contents provide strong resistance to high-temperature water corrosion, intergranular attack and stress corrosion cracking. Tube performance also depends on the specified solution annealing or thermal treatment and nuclear-quality inspection.
