Inconel 617

Inconel 617 is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy developed for high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance and metallurgical stability. The combination of nickel, chromium, cobalt and molybdenum provides useful creep and stress-rupture properties together with resistance to carburizing and oxidizing atmospheres. Alloy 617 is commonly supplied for gas turbines, industrial furnaces, heat-treatment equipment, petrochemical processing, power-generation systems and other high-temperature fabricated components.

Yes. UNS N06617 is the standardized UNS designation for Inconel 617. The alloy may also be identified as Alloy 617, Nickel Alloy 617, W.Nr. 2.4663 or NiCr23Co12Mo.

No. Alloy 617 is primarily strengthened by solid-solution effects from cobalt and molybdenum. It is normally supplied in a solution-annealed condition rather than precipitation hardened like Inconel X-750 or Alloy 718.
