Hastelloy C-276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten alloy developed for resistance to severe corrosion in both reducing and oxidizing environments. Its high molybdenum and tungsten contents provide strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while chromium improves performance in oxidizing media. Yes. UNS N10276 is the standardized UNS designation for Hastelloy C-276. The alloy may also be identified as Alloy C-276, Nickel Alloy C-276, W.Nr. 2.4819 or NiMo16Cr15W.

Nickel provides the stable alloy base, molybdenum and tungsten improve resistance to reducing acids and localized corrosion, and chromium supports resistance to oxidizing chemicals. Low carbon and silicon also help maintain weld-zone corrosion resistance.

Yes. Alloy C-276 has good weldability and is commonly fabricated using gas-tungsten arc, gas-metal arc and shielded-metal arc processes. Matching filler metals such as ERNiCrMo-4 may be used according to the approved welding procedure.

Alloy C-276 has excellent resistance to many hydrochloric acid concentrations and temperatures. Actual performance depends on aeration, oxidizing contaminants, concentration, temperature and process conditions, so the complete environment should be reviewed.
