Incoloy 825, designated UNS N08825, is a titanium-stabilized nickel-iron-chromium alloy containing molybdenum and copper for resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments. Its nickel, molybdenum and copper contents provide useful resistance to reducing media such as sulfuric and phosphoric acids, while chromium supports resistance to oxidizing substances. Molybdenum improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and titanium stabilization helps protect against intergranular corrosion. Alloy 825 is not normally selected for service where creep-rupture properties govern the design, particularly after prolonged exposure above approximately 540 °C.

Yes. UNS N08825 is the standardized designation for Incoloy 825. The material may also be identified as Alloy 825, Werkstoff 2.4858 or NiCr21Mo.

Alloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy containing copper, molybdenum and titanium, while Alloy 625 has higher nickel and molybdenum together with niobium. Alloy 625 generally provides greater strength and localized-corrosion resistance, while Alloy 825 is often selected as a cost-effective material for sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and selected sour-service environments.

We can quote plate, sheet, strip, foil, round bar, rod, wire, seamless or welded pipe and tube, fasteners, fittings, flanges, forgings and welding wire. Custom dimensions, cut pieces, machining allowance and drawing-based products can also be discussed.

Common standards include ASTM B424 for plate, sheet and strip, ASTM B425 for rod and bar, ASTM B423 or B163 for seamless pipe and tube, ASTM B705 for welded pipe, ASTM B704 for welded heat-exchanger tube, ASTM B564 for forgings and ASTM B366 for wrought fittings.

Yes. Alloy 825 has good weldability using conventional processes. AWS ERNiCrMo-3 filler metal and ENiCrMo-3 covered electrodes are commonly used. ERNiCrMo-14 or ENiCrMo-14 consumables may be considered where especially high weld-metal corrosion resistance is required, subject to the qualified welding procedure.

Alloy 825 is used in selected seawater, offshore and sour oil and gas environments, but suitability is not automatic. Chloride concentration, temperature, flow, crevices, hydrogen sulfide partial pressure, pH, elemental sulfur and the applicable ISO 15156 or NACE MR0175 limits must be reviewed.
